if your handy with the tools you can press out the old bearing and swap in a new one,
the bearing is about 14.00 from the bearing supply house or one of our vendors

Isn't this the one that rarely touches the belt?

it only comes into play if the belt loses its tension.
it will keep the belt from jumping the crank gear,
it can also be used as a tell tale as the roller will touch the belt along its center,
and if when inspecting the belt you see strange marks on the belt then its an indication the belt is loose.

IIRC those are 202 bearings inside, the same ones that are used in the cooling fans and skateboard wheels.

Roger can get you the bearings: Nachi 6201-2NSE C3, 12 mm i.d., 32 mm o.d., 10 mm thick. Widely available elsewhere, too.

I thought they were not needed / optional (redundant) when using a KenTensioner ?

Correct! Been without since 2009. Now I only wonder about the fact that the belt isn't shielded from grit and dirt.
