Default ABS light on in my 89 S4

Just did a ton of work on my shark.

Replaced the brake pucks with a set from Mark. Before I replaced the pads, the ABS light and the electronic warning displayed on the dash. I figured it was triggered by thin pads. Any way. I fired her up and as soon as I hit the brakes the light came on again.

Some of the wiring for the sensors have the outer coating flaking off, but the inner wires look OK.

I'm terrible at electrical work, any suggestions are welcome. Should I replace all the speed and wear sensors?

Thanks
joe

PS I'm flying to San Antonio tomorrow AM, and returning Friday. Load me up with ideas, and how to's!

Hi Joe when does the light come on? If it comes on after the engine is started but the car has not moved its probably the relay on the CE panel also check the fuse.
If it comes on after the car has moved faster than 5 mph then it could be a sensor or wire connection or one of the relays on the ABS unit

check the 2 relays under the left front fender this requires fender liner removal,
to get to the top of the ABS unit, you can test the relays out of the car

If you were working under the hood you might have moved the sensor connections at the shock towers if you moved the calipers then you may have messed with the sensors at the wheels and or the ground wires attached to each spindle
On the rear check the grounds as well.

If the wires all look good then remove the sensors from each hub and clean them .

Also check the grounds in the spare tire well these will be thick brown wires bolted to the forward portion of the spare tire well
