Installed Hans OB door speakers
I installed one of the early sets of Hans OB door speakers today. I actually pulled the door panel ( first time) to see whats going on in there and replace my door stopper ( mine was shot!). Found the plastic water shield falling off....typical. I pulled that off and covered the 3 larger holes with dynamat. Regarding the speakers- the PO had installed some Retrosound speakers ( $59 crutchfield) that are REALY shallow, but no mid/low end (especially the way they are installed). I found the 3 of the 4 studs on the driver door panel there, but none on the passenger side. I replaced the studs by using some small #6-32 T-nuts and 1/2 machine screws. pics below. didnt get the passenger panel back on yet so I have not yet heard them. also shown below is a comparison of some coaxial speakers I have (magnet way too large), hans speaker, and the retrosound speaker.

I like it. What is the Disk Brake Quiet for?
I replaced my door cards with a later model only to find out that later doors have
cut outs in them for the second speaker. Looking for a new solution
Also you might note that a cheaper solution to Dynamate can be found at HomeDepot
in the roofing dept.

I'm putting Han's speakers in now also - really nice job, Hans - saving the originality of the OB's... another bizarre example of the 928 was made, attaching door speakers to the fiber board of the door panels on studs - thank God I'm the first guy to take mine apart...

Not to mention the roofing crap stinks! I mean literally, it smells like asphalt. Stick to stuff actually designed for sound/vibration deadening, butyl based is the best.

I used the updated version of Brownbread. The stuff is really great at what it does and has no scent at all, even on hot summer days. It also costs a lot less than dynomat, works better too.

I (well Sean really) put Han's speakers in my Weissach and added a period correct radio. Sounds really good so another fan of Han's speakers.
