oil pump spring
I'm replacing the seals on the oil pump and the spring got dislodged. How does it fit back into the pump?
Is it supposed to be perfectly round or are the crimps normal? I can't seem to find anything in PET/WSM or searching that shows how this spring fits into the pump.

Make sure you have the 'dot' on one surface of the outer gerotor gear facing the engine block.

The spring is not available separately. It's inside this oil seal which you need to replace

The spring keeps tension on the seal where it surrounds the shaft. In the shot above, the spring is outside of the seal and useless.
In my experience, the seal is now trash as you won't be able to secure the spring back from where it came from. I think, and I stand to be corrected here, that in this case, the spring is encapsulated in the seal material to maintain the seal integrity and prevent exactly what the picture shows, which would mean that the seal material has torn to release that spring.
You are using oil on the shaft and seal prior to assembly...right?

^^^^It's not that hidden, gently fold down a small section of the inner ring and you will see the spring. Reading you questions got mr worried, maybe you should find someone that knows how to install a seal and properly slode it on the pump shaft.
