Default Distespect for the 928

I was walking out to my car in a Meijer parking lot and overheard two women talking about my car. One said "That's not even a real Porsche. It's a 928."

I just lol'd.

I love the 911 but the purists are missing out if they think the only real Porches are rear engine.

Next time just remind them that when they were selling new, the 928 was the highest priced model Porsche offered, at about $20k above the sticker of a 911.

I'm surprised they knew it was a 928, or even a Porsche for that matter.

I tell people like that the 928 was really the concept test mule for the C5 Corvette.

No ****! Thats what i dont understand, the 928 was Porsches top end premium model..Its more high tech, luxurious, faster, more exspensive and hell if nothing else has a V8!

911 who?

RKD threw a little reality in here for me. Most guy's don't even know what kind of car this is, regardless of whats plastered on the back. And since you ruled out young girls trying to get your attention, I just find this waaaayyyyy out there. 99.9% of women don't know or care anything about things mechanical. And then to want to insult you, I could only imagine this coming out of the mouths of some small-poled lower echelon fcar owners.

I've gotten "nice corvette" also. it was pretty amusing.

but really from what I understand the 356 was developed with a lot of vw bug input in the drive train and suspension, and the 911 was developed up from that. the 928 on the other hand got an engine designed by porsche, a brand new 'transaxle' concept (although auto coming from mercedes) aswell as the fancy new rear axles, and a sleek body style from porsche. so in a way the 928 is more 'porsche' than is the air-cooled crowd. but do correct me if I'm over simplifying this, as I'm sure porsche would have attempted to improve and develop upon the original bug components...
