Just bought a track car

Just got home with an 88 auto track car that was on Houston CL. It runs and drives and has lots of Carl's stuff on it. The wheels came from Carl's Pike's Peak car. Need to get it on the lift and see what's been done, but I know there's been some welding underneath, big sway bar, straight dual exhaust with only one real muffler, solid motor mounts, drilled rotors, some fancy adjustable shocks with blue springs, roll bar and lots of other stuff. The car came with all the original parts and the interior is not as gutted as most track cars. It still has the door panels and some of the carpet.
Odometer works and shows 100k. Nothing has been done to the engine, looks like the intake has never been off. A company in Houston called Fastlane did all the work. The owner was a sponsored auto crosser (didn't know that was possible)

Yeah, I was lucky enough to be close by. The guy that was selling it for the owner was overloaded with phone calls and "scam artist" talking about PayPal :-) I think he just wanted to deal with someone in person with cash. Before I arrived to pick it up yesterday, someone else showed up with a cashier's check for full purchase price, but the seller stuck to our deal.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, maybe try an autocross or two, maybe put it back on the market. Just need to learn more about what I have first and much fun it is to drive.

I'm embarrassed to say how much I paid, but the car is still on CL so anyone can see that it's listed at $3500.
Flint,
Nothing official, but several of us will be at the StarBucks again on the 20th. Lori is bringing her 87 that she's trying to sell so you may want to stop by and see it. Think I should try to drive this track car the 4 miles to the gathering with no plates? I think I can probably get away with it...

I put the car in the air this morning and so far I'm feeling pretty good about the purchase. It looks like some high quality work was done, but I'm no expert on track cars, in fact I know almost nothing, so feel free to chime in with opinions...
So far I've found...
- Koni adjustable shocks, look fairly new
- 928MS guards up front, drop links in rear, sway bar and engine cross brace
- Custom 2 1/4" stainless welded exhaust, all the way back to the stock rear muffler (it's loud)
- stainless brake lines
- Small high torque starter
- Beefed up sway bar mount
- Two electric fans on a radiator from a Shelby Mustang (I was told)
- Engine oil cooling radiator with dedicated fan
- Tranny fluid cooling radiator with dedicated fan (so 4 electric fans)
- Some sort of front brace for rigidity I guess
- Hand held kickdown switch on a nice curly phone chord

the rear tie down plates need to be removed BEFORE you drive the car again, unless these have already been modified, but it doesnt look like it.
The welding on the sway bar reenforcements doesn't look very good. I would consider redoing the welds

Colin,
Curious why you say that about the rear tie downs. They don't seem to hang down any lower than the front sway bar. That said, I don't really need them, so might remove them.
The welds are not all that pretty but look fairly solid to me. I'm not sure the picture is giving the best view. Some of what you're seeing is undercoating that melted away from the heat.
