I am but here in DFW they are a bunch of grass cutter snobs - sorry but telling it as it is.
They would not know a true Porsche if it bit them in the buns 8>)

I just opted to not renew my membership to the upper Canada region. Never felt welcome at any events, 911 snobs for the most part. A few bad apples ruin the bunch.

Would be since 1991 if I bothered to renew every year.
Good number of 928's in this group, should probably rejoin.

Interesting, I've been with them for almost 10 years. Never attended any events be it DE, concours, rallies, etc., these sorts of things don't appeal to me. Our club rag didn't really have anything of interest to me until they graciously let me write about my 928 adventures, I'm hoping it'll be contagious.
Roger, I really appreciate your candor. I can see where you're coming from. What I notice with this forum is that you guys seem to have your own gigs with a loose "club" type atmosphere which is terrific.
What disappoints me is the lack of press 928s or any of the pre-95 mass produced water-cooled Porsches get. My hopes are to get them back into their pages since I think a lot of new members that are pretty new to Porsches in general don't really know much about these cars. The immense passion and genuine camaraderie that I find with everyone here is where I feel best...snobbery is non-existent.
As they say, it's not the cars its the people...

Joined in '96 when I got my '88 S4. Was VP, Pres, Concours Chair and DE instructor for many years! In fact the Pres before and after me were both 928 owners as well (though they got theirs because they saw me having so much fun with mine! LOL!) We have also had 944 and 951 presidents of our region. Makes a BIG difference!

I've been a member on and off since 1970. Pretty much a member all the years I've had a Porsche in the collection. In spite of all the supposed chip-on-shoulder issues that folks perceive, I've never heard a bad word said about my 928 at anu PCA event. I think there was more trash-talking about the 911 from us 356 addicts in the way-back years. Somehow folks learned that the evolution was and continues to be positive, regardless of what numbers are next to the badge.
I'm also amused by folks who gripe that the 928 is ignored in the pubs. Want to see more 928 coverage? Generate it! Regional newsletters all the way up to Pano are starving for well-written features on anything Porsche. Pablo is doing a great job documenting his project, and getting it out into the mainstream. It's not like there's any shortage of folks up-fixin' their 928's, and the visitor count for this forum usually trumps the 911 forums easily. So sharpen a few quills, take a few good event pictures, and share them with your local region. The first steps to elevating awareness of the 928 cult followers are amazingly accessible.

Yes, we've been PCA members since '99. Haven't been active for at least five years. Prior to that, we attended a number of events and found our local PCA folks to be a really nice bunch. Only reason we haven't been active is just priorities—too much other stuff going on.
I get the impression that local PCA chapters vary widely in the mix of active members. It seems that they range from snooty in some places to down-to-earth and friendly in other places.
FWIW, I never felt any negativity from the local PCA members about my 928.
