Oil pump gear nut torque spec?
I have tried searching on this forum but I cannot find a definitive spec. I have a new oil pump gear (steel) and I want to torque it before I forget and then have to post a month from now that my gear came off and my valves are bent.
Thanks,
Eric

IIRC M8 (13 mm) is 15 ft lbs (20 Nm). Or is it M10 (17 mm) then 29 ft lbs (40 Nm). If you are replacing the aluminum gear with a steel one, remove the thin washer behind the gear. Use loctite on the nut to prevent disaster.

The 29 Ft/lbs sounds about right from memory. If you don't use blue loctite (Rl'ers are about split 50/50), make sure you clean ANY oil from the threads on the nut the shaft and faces. I suspect that that may have been the cause of my disaster.
