Default Porsche 928 not running

Hi, I'm sorry if this post is in the wrong area or anything like that, but I would really like trouble shooting help with my old 1982 928 on why it would not be running.

History:
The car belonged to my grandpa and it is an old beat up thing by the looks of the body as he found it in a junkyard but it was running at the time. The car ran but needed a new clutch to it and it was tested and turned on and ran fine but at the time he had no key so he somehow started it and turned it off manually. After doing a clutch change on the car and about a year of it sitting in the garage we went to go to try to start it again and it would only turn over and not start. We know it has a spark as we can run it off of starter fluid sprayed into it, we changed the fuel pump and doubt the injectors are clogged. The previous "owner" said that we needed another key or door lock or something and I was wondering if there was some anti theft that would stop it from only starting but not turning over because we completely took out the lock on the door for reassembling? also the cluster on it is a little rusted and one of the lower left contacts is peeling off and i was wondering if anyone would happen to have a diagram of a cluster and what each of the pins did. I would appreciate any and all advice, can supply more information if needed, but overall i just want to figure out why it wouldn't be running as it ran before but just couldn't move.

One of the more common problems is a faulty fuse or relay. The relays and fuses are located in the main electrical panel under the passenger's feet.

The relays are identified by Roman numerals - in this case, the AFC Relay (fuel injection)is XVI, the Fuel Pump Relay is XVII. Use a flashlight to find the Roman numerals on the panel, along with the tiny arrowheads pointing at the proper relay.

Find Fuse #22, the 25-Amp Fuel Pump Fuse. Check the fuse, and carefully clean both contacts and both ends of the fuse.

Kneel by the rear bumper while a helper operates the starter - you should hear the fuel pump buzz or whine for a second or two when the ignition switch is turned on (or jumpered, or whatever you are doing), and the pump then should run while the starter is operating. No fuel pump noise, no run...

One of the 928 Vendors can sell you a set of Tech Info CDs that contain every scrap of tech info available on the 928. This will be the most valuable tool you can ever buy if you want to get the car going.

I've checked all of the fuses, and the fuel pump is definitely working, while all of the fuses still appear to be making contact and unbroken

Yes the alarm will keep it from starting. Search alarm system and there is a simple jumper you can do on the fuse relay panel to bypass eliminate the alarm.

Thanks for the advice, i just came back from tampering with it (just putting the cleaned cluster in which has a little connector peeling) and it will start by the key after cranking for a little but only for like one second and then turn off as it were just firing a few times. Also wouldn't there be an alarm or something to go off? or is there a good possibility just the alarm is broken.

after some searching i found various posts and threads on the alarm system and the acu, but could would you be able to tell me which pins to jump or show me an exact picture? I don't want to end up jumping the wrong cables due to someone changing a topic etc.

after some digging i found the alarm control unit and attempted to jump it. I believe i jumped the right pints but im not completely sure as the car began to idle or start a little more than it previous did but it still died. The numbers on my acu were different from the ones on the one i saw and im not sure if the jump is the same or not. also there were some other wires near the cluster that were not connected to anything and i was wondering if they are needed for the starting of the car.

the first picture is of my acu and the second is of the one i found online and is the same as the third one, the third picture is the jump i created and the last is the picture of the wires by the cluster that aren't connected to anything. (sorry about the pictures being not right side up, my phone is retarded).

also after all of this, we tried to turn the engine on with the jetronic disconnected and it was the same problem/ no difference in the problem, would this mean the jetronic is bad or does it work differently?
