Default For our A/C head efficiniados

Traced my non-A/C to low freon. But, I found an issue with my A/C head.

The a/c light and blower do not come on unless I push the lower slider button in. That seems strange, I have seen the innards of a few A/C heads and am puzzled why pushing in the lower slider button would get that behavior.

Cracked it open - loose ***** allow the actuator to float - that was the issue.

Interesting pearl.
Will store it in the little grey cells.

When the lower slider button is loose it lets the tangs inside the head float above the circuit board. After I replaced the slider buttons all was well.

Default Slider replacement

Sometimes I have to fiddle with slider to get A/C engaged. Was told replacing slider(s) and clips may help. Any tips on replacing? Thanks.

I have a related problem. After fiddling with the board and slider mechanism, I can get it to work in a couple different positions...but I'm afraid more fiddling might make it worse. I've more or less declared it "good enough for now" and put it back together. You're right though...if the various parts of that slider-to-board mechanism aren't working, the compressor will not turn on in those positions.

Good find Kevin. I seem to have an intermittent AC on or Off while it's working it sometimes changes on it's own. And yes my button **** on temp is broken, I suspect after changing that it will properly slide to correct area.

Mine was like that...some electrical contact cleaner spray fixed it right up.

The only HVAC head issue I have on the 85 now, is no backlight.
