Default ? wrong struts ?

I have a 1982.
I purchased a pair of "New-old stock" Bilsteins.
They were listed as:
PORSCHE 928 1978-1984 FRONT HEAVY DUTY BILSTEIN SHOCKS #B46-0966

This cool type-written note was in the box too.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dave,
The part numbers are correct and they are old stock = Gold color.
I hope you picked them up really cheap because the lower spring perch and adjuster nut ($99 each) are dam expensive. Try Mark at 928 International for used.

New front Bilstein's complete with the adjusting nut and spring perch are $254 each from us.

Does that answer your question?

My question is: Fitment for a 1982????

Roger Thanks,
I found that the number on the struts is listed for newer models after 1984.
My car is 1982.

The instruction note probably refers to the fact that Bilsteins change the ride height of cars from 78-84. So you will need later model springs. I have an 83 and need to get some myself. But my new Bilsteins are indeed awesome. They will fit but likely your front end will ride 1.5 to 2 inches higher than normal. Now for me that means the new Bilsteins Roger refers to. But likely (as per the note) the same thing happens for the old stock as well to some degree. Then there is also the other pieces you need that Roger refers to. Marc at 928 Intl in fact posts the fact that you need later model springs for these years and usually stocks a lot of good used parts. Good luck. If you get them on, they will work wonders on that 32 year old suspension.

What he said.

You need S4 springs plus the S4 spring perches and the adjusters.
