Default ALignment

Has anybody tried this alignment machine/device. Maybe better and cheaper in the long run.

its a neat concept. I would have to go to a parking lot somewhere to use it though because my driveway is inclined.I'm not entirely sure I fully understand all of the camber and caster and toe in stuff, but If I get it to WSM spec then I would be fine. and I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to understand with more reading.

kind of off topic but a while ago I was reading a bunch on a jeep forum and found an alignment guide which called for an owner to just eyeball it to the point that the toe was so that looking from the rear of the car you cant see the side of the wheel but if you were to adjust it out a miniscule bit you would see the side... so I guess that little gadget is a bit more precise.

I'm in the wrong business...

The laser setup we put together here, with a couple angle gauges, is less than $100. I could probably throw in a couple tape-measures.

TimBuktoo, eyeball is nowhere close I'm afraid. For rock-crawling it's fine, since the wheels never go in the same direction anyway. You want a drive that's level side-to-side so you can get camber and toe set correctly. You can set caster if you know the angle of thedriveway, sort of. But it's a lot easier to do the calcs if the drive is close to level front to back. Most home garages have a small enough drainage slope that you can get good results.
