while the destruction of the car is painful for me to watch, the video brings up an important issue for me. I ride my bike (pedal powered) to and from school and across town very often and in my area especially riders (both motor and pedal powered) get very little respect from drivers (not all drivers, there are a few who are very kind to riders). just last week a school bus honked at me and my bike as I was sitting at a red light trying to leave my school. so please take from this video more than just "oh that poor car, it hurts to watch". and not to imply that any of you are rude to riders (I haven't encountered any rude drivers in 928s, and you all are an amazing and kind and welcoming community) I will leave with a few reminders to you all about ettiquette when dealing with cyclists and motorbikes.

1. by law bikes belong on the road (excepting highways for the pedal powered versions), please don't tell us to get off the road. if you feel the need petition the government dont shout at riders

2. pass with 4 feet of space separating you and the rider. in PA this is the law, it might be more or less in other states, but as a common courtesy please give space when passing. it is quite frightening when a car speeds past you with 4 inches to spare, trust me it happens often to me and each time I fear that I will get hit and end up dead on the side of the road.

3. please dont honk at us without cause. while I dont know whether or not this is the law, I find this extraordinarily rude. sometimes I am honked at on a straight road, possibly to announce that a driver is passing, but more often drivers honk as I am left turning, (and just after traffic has cleared and I have started moving...). would you do this to a car in the same situation... no, because it startles them and is dangerous, so don't do it to riders. if you have to honk at me as I'm spacing out in front of a green light, please do it lightly as riders do not have windows and baffles and all of that protecting our ears, and HORNS ARE LOUD...

Timbuktoo, I too ride, motorcycles and bicycles. In Tennessee it's three feet when passing a pedal powered cycle. I run too. In the 20 plus years I've been running on the roads I've had things thrown and swung at me. Before I watched the video I was a big fan of Icon, now not as much as before. I just wished they would have used a 924 or 944 if they were going to stick with a Porsche.

well nobody's done that to me yet, but I know guys who have been hit by cars. I guess no matter what it could always be worse, you just have to be safe and aware.

ps. I hope my rant wasn't too aggressive or anything. it's just that awareness of riders and their safety is something that is very important to me.
