This is an on going issue but I'm curious if anyone else has this problem. If I drive for a few hours (highway) and not having to change gears, when I do come to an off ramp and stop or downshift or , just making a simple gear change is a major effort. After turning off the engine and everything cools down a bit or just getting back onto surface streets for a few miles
everything is Ok again. What is the root cause of this?
All of the bushings from the bell housing to the gearbox
all have no more than 5 to10,000 miles as well as the clutch.
It doesn't grind, just really hard to get out of 5th gear.
Once I'm back in 1st it starts to loosen up a bit. But only
after a few hours on the road. This does not happen in city driving.

This is common is track cars. The transmission gets hot and the metal parts expand. Some have said it's the case expanding that's the problem. The fix is to add an oil cooler. (pump, hoses, radiator)
I'd check the fluid level. This shouldn't be an issue on the highway.
