Another use for duct tape

In the process of stripping the old stuff off the engine I found this holding the lid on the airflow sensor box. Reminds me to post a picture of the muffler. There've been some creative fixes done on this car.

With the heat in the engine bay, what would possess a person to think that would be a "good fix".
