Early gearbox carrier was one and same part for both manual and automatic boxes. When new G28/05 manual box was introduced Porsche decided to move manual box 30mm forward to get better weight ballance. While at it they simply moved TT rear clamp location 10mm to make clamping area longer. I can't see reason why TT center shaft couldn't be modified to work with later box. Infact it was done on relatives '78 to install G28/10 into it some 15 years ago already and car is still running without problems. Its not like factory intented but it works well enough.
