60 weight is too heavy........ 20-50 should work just fine though....
However I would not use "Racing" oil in a street car.....most racing oils do NOT have detergents and cleaning additives that are present in street oils that have much longer change intervals....

Thanks I had not come across a straight sae 60 before. The vr1 is usually 20 w 50. The info says ashless anti wear and zddp enhanced anti foam which greatly redues deposits. all which are GOOD things. Here in Houston we have our share of plus 90 degree days. maybe as a 1 quart additive?

20/50 is a base stock of 30wt with additives to make it flow better when cold and still work like oil when hot, adding a qt of 60 wt seems like a very cheap solution if it didn't have issues, which makes me think it does.

If by Space Town you are located in Houston, I'd not worry about running that as long as you let the engine warm up enough before putting your foot down.

Valvoline Racing 60, is the oil of air cooled Harleys, prior to 1984. I used to use it till I found out Ashland made Harley oil, with detergents for air cooled engines. After the evolution engine came out Harley started using multi viscosity oils, all Shovelhead, and before ran at least 60 weight oil. Still thinned out like water on a hot day.

I've known guys that owned their bikes for 20 years that never set their chain oiler. Little screw with a jam nut on the side of the oil pump. Properly set up, and you'd lose a quart bout every 750 miles.

Back a work this am. Thanks for all the comments. I grabbed a couple of quarts and will use a quart as an additive when i change the oil this week. Will be heading to Marathon, Fla. in August ( Capt. Pip's hideaway& marina) great place to stay in the Keys. All rental include the free use of one of their 21 foot bay boats.
Castrol has a 25/65 that I have been using in my 88 Bronco II 4x4 as a two quart additive during the summer. It really seems to keep things running a little cooler when pulling my boat.
