Default 91 S4 No start at gas station

I was driving to work this morning, and everything ran fine. I stopped and got Gas, and then got in the car and turned the car, and nothing happened. I checked the lights and they worked, and checked the battery and connections back there. Everything is fine. Still nothing when I turn the Key. I am able to hear the PSD activate, but nothing as far trying to crack the engine.

Any idea's? The car was packed and ready for SITM, but AAA towed her home and I am at work now. Might go back and try something before I head to SITM.

Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

Swap the horn relay in for the starter relay.

How old is the batt and ground strap? 12.5 volts on a DVM is no guarantee the CCA are there, needs to be load tested to rule the batt out, then there are all those grounds. Just b/c the strap looks OK doesn't mean there isn't corrosion under the sheathing. Post #33 in the New Visitor thread re ground points.

Battery is less than 3 months old. Battery strap appears good, but will have it tested.

When you turn the key, do you hear a click or multiple clicking sounds? That usually means low battery.
If you hear nothing, I would check the relays as Sean suggested.

Awe geez... Sorry this happened this morning to you, Harvey, but I am a BIG believer in things happening for a reason.

Swap the relay and maybe consider replacing the ground cable with a cheap-o from an autoparts store, I think something along the lines of 2ga and 21+ inches will work.

I ran home and put in a new relay for the starter. When I turn the key i hear a faint buzzing for a second, but that is all. The engine is not trying to crank. I even put on another ground cable I had and that did not work either.

stumped

Any work or water recently by the 14 pin connector ? Any work or trauma underneath where the yellow wire from 14 pin to starter may have been effected ?
If not, then my thoughts would be toward ignition switch.

No work or water near the 14 pin connector. I had the console out recently looking at HVAC leaks is about all. The car has been running fine since I put the console back in. Oh well. I am about ready to call it a day and just head to SITM anyways.

Go to the 14-pin connector, locate the yellow wire in the corner. Get an 18" piece of 16 or 18 gage stranded, insulated wire and strip 1/2" on each end. Carefully separate the 14-pin connector and insert one end of the wire into the connection for the yellow wire, then put the connector back together with the 18" wire connected to the yellow wire.

Make certain that the transmission is in park, then touch the bare end of the wire to the jump start terminal - the starter should spin the engine. Use this to get to SITM, and fix the problem ASAP.
