I will be there showing up all the German Chebbys with my sleek, and newly painted 968. Which I guess is a German - Datsun?
Anyway, I'll come visit. I just got it pretty well sorted and I'm driving the wheels off it.

I'm glad you're gonna be there Doc. I need to ask some electrical questions that you might answer for me.
The Stepson('84 ROW) seems to want to smoke the harness side of the wire plugged into Central Fuse panel terminal E8. I have unplugged it temporaily from the fuse panel to mitigate any further damage. On the backside of the panel (the gray wires area) the wire that corresponds to E8 is (amazingly) a black wire that connects to 8 different places on the backside of the fuse panel (relays, connectors, etc). It burnt up 4 sections of that wire which I replaced. It has now shown itself to want to burn again. ???
The '89 has no power whatever at the fuse location for the secondary cooling fan (the right one) The secondary fan controller has no power for that fan at the pins of the secondary controller connector and the primary controller has no power for that fan either. ???

Smoke and flames generally indicates a shunt to ground at some point. You can start by looking carefully for a pinched, or kinked wire on the back of the CE panel. Put your meter on Ohms scale, lowest(or auto) and check from pin E8 to a good ground point. My guess is that you will see very little resistance. I'll review the wiring diagrams and we can proceed further.
Think about what you've done to the car just prior to this melting issue. You may find that a wire is out of place, or you've pinched a bundle. In some cases Porsche ran the ground wire to a function in the same bundle as the power line. If there is an internal shunt or short to the ground wire, these are very hard to find.

Sorry we're gonna miss you Roger.
Thanks Doc. After our conversation, I will go forward into the abyss. At least, I know I can stop burning wires. I will re-re-re remove the pod and test further.

I went to The Cooper Aerobics Center today to get a lay of the land. This place is huge ... like 30 acres huge! It even has its own hotel and 3 entrances off Preston Road. US cars enter near Willow. British, Italian & "other" cars enter at the middle and German cars enter near Churchill. Spectators parking is in the back also off of Churchill.
Ferrari, Porsche and Range Rover dealerships will be present as well as some vendors. Food is also available from various vendor trucks and Rock Fish is giving away free samples.
Sunday's entry fee is $25 and benefits Texas Scottish Rite Hospital and The Cooper Institute.
Jack is expecting more than 320 cars at this years event ... I hope some 928DFW guys show up!

i am going to try and come out. i have only had the car about 2 months. and already messed up and without thinking pulled the pin out of my trans that holds the preselector on it, took it apart and reset it. have to put the rear back on tonight. not sure if there is going to be other issues from that mess up till i get in it and drive. but it is kinda throwing me off because it don't feel like it is springing away from 1st and reverse like it was. *hoping i didn't brake it too bad* but i hope to be all put back together and out there in the morning

@hotmail.com extensions returned unsent
On my email list for Event Meeting Info, everyone with a "@hotmail.com" extension has been returned undeliverable.
I am just guessing everyone with a hotmail extension is returned, because there was alot of them.
SOOOO - if you have a hotmail.com extension, I sent you a notice, but there is a problem delivering it.
