87s4. My drivers side sideview mirror is inop. Passenger side goes up and down but not left and right....
Just wondering if motor is in sideview mirror itself? Bc I can't seem to see any motor in the door....

If you remove the glass, the motor is behind it.
To remove the glass, stick something up in the hole at the bottom of the mirror housing and "unlock" the mirror. The mirror is held on with a black plastic ring that locks in from behind place to hold the mirror tight.

The motors for the mirrors are right behind the glass.
The problem is likely broken wires in the harness assembly inside the door where they flex as the door is opened and closed. The driver door is usually cycled more than the passenger door, so the driver's side tends to fail first.
Often the wire conductor is broken internally but the insulationg sheath appears to be fine.
It is not reasuring to know that if one or more wires in the door harness have already failed, there are likely others ready to also fail.

Thanks...87s4 aut.
My only issue is if the wires are broken somewhere....the problem is that the door harness is wedged behind an inner panel...I just tore apart a door to a wallyp window motor fix, and that harness is not exactly accessible, in fact you have only 2 openings in the door panel.
I reached in there to see the harness but to unsheathed harness and do repairs? No possible....not possible...no real access to harness...

Separate note....thanks wallyp on that one suggestion to bypass black piece on window motor armature and brushes.....that one repair made window motor work...all other methods did not work for me.
These sideview mirrors are now my next issue. I wish we had the manual levers...chasing down a broken wire is not going to be easy....in an area that is a dark and hard to access
