Default Drivers door will not lock

ok i just picked her up :-)

so starts my project.

first off i have to sort out the drivers lock. The passengers door lock opens and closes with the key but the drivers does not. if i put the key in the drivers lock and try to turn it left or right it does not move. I'm thinking maybe it is an alarm /low battery issue (which i still have to check) or could it be the barrel or door motor.
the problem now is i can set the alarm but the drivers door will not lock. so if i open the door the alarm goes off. i then try to disable the alarm from the remote key fob where the alarm light then changes from flashing red to solid red put the key in the ignition but it will not turn over as it is disabled.
the drivers door latch i have tried to manually push down but it will not move.
does anyone have any idea what is wrong or what i should start with to try to diagnose this? is it an alarm or door lock issue.

so this is what i have figured out so far. I have two keys. and an alarm sigma thob. if i put the key in the passenger door it opens and closes. after ruffly 20 seconds of opening the passenger door with the key it relocks itself. if i now try the key in the drivers side (either one) it does not turn left or right and is stuck un the up position.

the alarm is set to on so if i open the drivers door which is not locked the alarm goes off. I press the thob to shut her down where the alarm light changes from flashing to solid. if i put the key in the ignition it will not start as it is still disabled???????????

any thoughts

Is one of the keys a bit longer? It will be the one that arms the system. Use it in the passenger door to unlock, then system will be disarmed. Since the driver door is inoperable it is time to remove door panel and see what problem is. There are write ups here that describe procedure. When removing panel do not forget the 2 small screws that hold the bottom of panel toward rear. They are hard to see, and if not removed bottom of cubby can be ruined. The other bolts are: 2 inside cubby, 2 behind panel, 1 behind vent insert on front of door. First remove door lock **** by removing center surround. Underneath is phillip screw. If base is hard to remove use needle nose plier to fit grooves and turn.

When panel off comes the fun part, removing the anti theft guard. One screw is on back of door, other 2 behind door panel just removed. When removed you can see the lock mechanism. It may be a simple adjustment, as they need to be same (driver/passenger) or symptom you described of locking automatic will happen. Other problem may be one of rods may be off, jammed, or broken.

Just re-read post, and it seems you have aftermarket alarm. Still need to figure none working/stuck lock part first (Porsche has no remote lock)

Welcome to the tank, and year of car is always helpful. Hope this helps some.

I had a similar problem with mine. Only it was the passenger door. It turned out to be the inline fuses for the door lock motors. You may still need to pull the driver lock motor to test it. Those inline fuses are behind the CE panel.
