I hope to have the GTS in my garage by Wednesday.... I have been busy cleaning and organizing the garage for the new arrival.... my wife thinks I'm completely nuts. I pulled the plug on my Esprit Turbo project until winter to get started on this one.

I plan to do all the mechanical work myself and am lucky to have the paint and body and interior in great condition (no rips tears dash cracks etc.)

Can't wait to get started!!

Another '93 Amazon Green 5 speed surfaces! I think I remember 6 or 7 were sent to the US.

Congratulations, sounds like you got a super deal.

I received delivery of the 928 tonight and already started working on it. I think a lift is in my future but I'm going to start by buying the Porken lift bars.

I confirmed the motor crankcase was replaced in 1999 under warranty. The receipt is in french so translation is an issue but it seems the car was consuming 1 litre oil every 500 miles. They transferred the crankshaft from the old motor to the new ... not sure what to make of this? Was this a common issue for early GTS's? The motor had 65,000 miles when the work was done. I believe it has around 70,000 miles now. The car was put in storage early in 2001.

The interior is in good shape but the leather needs treatment, it feels like cardboard right now. The body is in good shape but I believe it has been repainted. It's missing the 928 GTS badge on the back, the drives door seal is torn. The underside has evidence of rust but nothing serious. I got a feeling 10 years of salt air have taken its tool on the alternator, air pump etc. The radiator is toast, it rotted during storage, I hope the coolant hasn't damaged the engine, the motor oil looks like new. I intend to drain the remaining coolant tomorrow.

I got a lot of work ahead on me ..... looking forward to it

Check the winch/tow points the driver attached too, locally we saw a recient flat bed driver hook up to his lower A arm suspension and bent it.... not a happy ending......

Great looking car!

Good luck with the refurbishing. Are those 17" or 18" Cup rims? What size tires are fitted on them?

Cheers!

So you picked up a non-running '93 5-speed GTS for $6k canadian? You've made out like a bandit.

I look forward to seeing what you encounter - the journey through these cars is always fraught with surprises

Here's a good thread which discusses the oil issue and a system to resolve it ... https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ation-kit.html

If you get the oil ingestion under control so soon after a rebuild you should avoid the inevitable carbon buildup and consequent detonation, and have a good motor.

... and here is a pic from my car with the dimensions for fitting the GTS letters. If you print it out at a size so the dimensions are correct, you'll have an accurate template.

I'm worried about the tow point. The tow truck driver couldn't find the tow eye and hooked up to something underneath, I hope it wasn't the a-arm?

It has the original wheels, the 17" cups 225/45/17 front, 255/40/17 rear. I would like to go to 18's.

Thanks for all the help. I intend to keep updating this thread until the car is back on the road.

The car may not have had a badge from the factory. There's an option code for no model designation on the rear.

If you post the VIN, we can give you the full list of option codes (if you don't want to do it in public PM it to me and I'll post just the options).

Very unusual to see a silver intake - presumably it was repainted when they replaced the block?

I found the GTS letters in the ash tray ... The paint is in very good condition and I can't even find one door ding which leads me to believe it was painted shortly before being stored. If it was painted it was a great job.

I confirmed the mileage at 81,000 miles, I pulled the fuel pump relay and dropped a battery in it.

I am currently washing/detailing the car trying to get 10 years of dust and mold smells out before I start working on it... It makes working on it much easier Next I need to get it in the air so I can crawl underneath it ... the part I hate about working on cars.

Hilton - Yes please run my VIN for the option list: WP0AA2921PS815078 - Thanks!
