I have to differ on the Water Wetter, go look at the black sludge that has accumulated in your reservoir tank after adding it. I can't imagine how bad it looks inside the rest of the coolant system. I've not had that issue with the Royal Purple version.

Just my personal opinion, run distilled and G-05 and a properly running cooling set up will have no issues or any need to add stuff to it.

I had thought about using Water Wetter as a lot of people here seem to use it, but then I read a few forum posts on the web about it causing sludge so have decided to avoid it. I don’t have an overheating issue so why take the risk of mixing things.

That's because it's a surfactant and basically washed the residue out of the system. That's one of the ways it makes the system more efficient.

If there is sludge, would it be best to do a flush a month later? And linkely a few more times to get it fully cleared?

Having no experience with the head gaskets apparently made out of Alka-Seltzer I won't comment on that.
