Default Suspension springs question

Hi,

Would like to have your help on this subject, please.
I need to replace my suspension springs in a near future.
Looking at the PET with my VIN “WPOZZ92ZDS840935”, no problem at the front, with the non-adjustable suspension, the part number is 928 343 511 03 (904), one pair, and still available from Porsche.
My problem and question is at the back, with adjustable suspension the original part number was 928 333 531 12 (104), coded yellow, one pair, but unfortunately NLA from Porsche.
So the guy at the Porsche dealer parts department says the only springs available are for 84 cars, part number 928 333 531 14 (304), coded blue, one pair, BUT I should contact Porsche technical department to confirm if they can be used as a direct replacement, because he doesn’t know!
Of course my Porsche technical department it’s here, on Rennlist, that’s why I ask for your expert opinion on this.
Thanks in advance.

Regards

Not that I am any help with your spring choice, but it seems od to me that your car would have come with adjustable rear and NON-adjustable fronts. Was this common on the early cars? Have you replaced your shocks already, or just looking at replacing your springs? If you haven't done shocks yet the easiest solution may be to go to adjustable shocks for both the front and rear, now and get the corresponding springs.

You need to get two each, 928 333 521 07 and 928 333 522 08 concave washers. With them you can use '84.5 MY 928 333 531 14 springs. AFAIK thats all what needs to be changed. If more is needed then pair of 928 333 436 02 supporting plate should be all. Washers are number 4 and 14 in PET picture, plate is 13.

Hi,

Thanks Simon and Erkka for the suggestions and explanations.
My real problem is that my front springs are completely shot, smashed, and don’t know the exact word, because of the car been sitting waiting for a new clutch for more then a year, only with occasional movements in and out of the garage!
As my front springs are non-adjustable and the only option is change them, my doubt was if changing only the front springs and leaving the old ones in the back will have a negative effect on the car’s behaviour, so I was thinking about changing front and rear.
Unfortunately, as with many other items, the correct rear springs are NLA, so probably my best bet is to buy the 84,5 MY, with the necessary parts to make them fit.
Just in case before one of these days they also go NLA….
Thanks again

Regards

There are many used original springs around since people have changed to Eibachs. I tried to sell newly bowder coated GTS springs locally for long time for 20 euros without any takers. Finally managed to force feed them to Arnoud during recent rear shock change and got his old springs in exhange. I'm pretty sure we will not run out of used spared for next 50 years. Once it happen there is local company which can make almost any spring design you like and its not even expensive. They also make stabilisers to customers design. Once we run ot of Eibachs I'm sure we try to have them made also. As long as there are other sources we don't want to do it.
