Smile No more rear tail warning light, easy workaround

My car is a 1984 Euro. For two days after replacing all the rear lights with the correct bulbs, replacing the drivers marker with the correct 5w light, and adding a socket and 5w light to the passenger side ( The socket was removed). I started getting a warning ligh telling me either the rear driving lights or marker lights were out. Strange, that I wasn't getting a code with no marker/socket on the passenger side before I replaced the lights. O.K so I cleaned every ground and socket, checked every bulb and fuse, ( 3 times at least) still no luck... Today for the heck of it I removed the bulb from the passenger marker. Amazing no more warning. However If I removed any other bulb that was lit I would get a warning. So here is what worked at least in this case. I went to Radio Shack purchased two red lamp assembly p/n 272-0336, they are the brighest red 12V LEDs they sell. Almost a drop in fit (A little dermel action) into the back of the lamp markers, wired them up and bingo I have marker lights about equal to a 3.2 w bulb and no warning, with a 10,000 hour life of the bulb. I know its not as bright as 5 watts but you can see them just fine.

I had the same problem. Warning light stayed on after all I could find here. Ended up defeating the warning light by opening up the bulb control module attached to the passenger side package tray and unplugging the #2 connection. I put a vacuum plug over the end so it wouldn't ground on anything and folded it up into the plug, put it back together and now all lights work with no tail lamp warning.

If I remember right I did the same thing a few years back but then my cruise quit working. Does your cruise work?

I'd double check to be sure there is no corrosion or water affecting the sockets.

"O" boy did I check for corrosion. I'm just happy it works, Now to the next issue, two warning aren't coming on (1984 euro) So I need to see what they are then fix whatever one causes the "!" to light. It goes out when I push the button. Is there a way to test if its the brake pad warning?
