Default 87 motor arm position

87 kept blowing fuses and would not go up manually.

Found headlamps rusted in place after a 10-year sleep I tested everything including down and up cams etc and the motor is now cycling with arm off. I have finally freed up the arm but it seems to be binding due to the position of the arms when reinstalled.
I understand you need cycle the motor with lamps on pull up bar and then attach the arms. The 87 motor goes one way up then the reverse down unlike the earlier models.
Does any one have a picture of the up and down position of the arms.

Wow 40 views no replies!
Trying to get a good starting point on the motor arms, keeps blowing fuses it seems to be binding along the travel arc. Car had a body kit added so no telling who did what to it. It was really stuck after sitting in the weather all these years it seems a lot better after a lot of fiddling.
I did not find much about adjustments and arm positions to get a starting point assuming that this has been played with during the body kit install a little info would be useful.

Does the motor's cam seem bent ? Straight edge it at a zero and 90 degree position to be sure.
I'd clean well, and even rasp down the irregular faces/edges of the two arms of the linkage when you remove them, if needed.
When I set mine after replacing the motor I simply turned the headlights to the #2 ON position with the linkage arms off. I then lifted the headlights by hand to the functionally upright position, and then replaced the linkage arms. Be sure to use 'C' or 'E' clamps to secure the linkage arms. If you do not, and the linkage arm comes off its post you will be purchasing a radiator. When in the upright position the linkage will be as extended as they need to be. They should turn to the down position without issue if cleaned up well. A little lubrication wouldn't hurt .

Add: When you remove the linkage arms to clean up, try moving the headlight up and down before you do any setting of the arms. Do they move freely ? If there is a hang up, you must locate it. BE CAREFUL. Both headlights on the torsion bar want to naturally snap down. You can/will damage something, or even a finger, if care not taken. The unit does really want to torque down with a vengeance.

Pics show lights up with linkage arm fully extended up and flexed down.
