Default 928 GT has a friend...SL500

Just picked up a low mileage very clean MB SL500 2003. Traded my wifes 2004 Saab and some cash, but I must say it is very nice. Interior looks like a modern 928 interior with flowing console and separate passenger and driver "cocoons".

Took it for a 40 mile drive this evening and rides nioce even with 19" wheels, but with 300 HP and just over 2 tons, not quite as quick as the GT.

Spent couple hours checking it out in the garage tonight, but the wife likes it...happy wife...happy life..

SL's are great cars. We have an '05 SL55 AMG, and it's an absolute blast to drive. I agree that the interior looks a lot like a modern 928 interior... especially with the sloping center console.

I've always admired SLs too ... have they suffered any of the electronic gremlins like the E-class cars of the same era?

The SL is one of my second most favorite German V8 cars next to the 928. Both cars were the pinnacle of luxury GT in the 1980s and 1990s. The R129 chassis from 1990-2002 will always be the SL I will love forever.

One of my clients has an 04 cl55 Kompressor that i have the pleasure of keeping on the road...

What a beast. Gorgeous cars and powerful. I would definitely put one in my garage!

Nice car. That should definitely keep the wife happy!

I've recently added another CLK to my 'collection', an '08 CLK 550 Cabrio with the AMG package. The thing just gets up and stampedes and would leave my 928 in its wake easily. 7 gear ratios might have something to do with that! It needs an aftermarket cat-back exhaust as when I get on it it sounds like an afterburner lights off with a loud 'WHOOSH!'. Would like to have a little more V8 sound, like my 928.

I swear if I were to trade my 928 for any other V8 coupe right now, it would be a 2002 CLK55 AMG. I have loved the W208 design since it's inception in 1997
