Default Warning Lights

I am looking for help;

All pod and central warning lights are on at key in pos,1. start the car all lights still on other than the alt light it does go out. all gages work, all lights work.

batt 15.3 volts at hot post, i think this is high?

car had been driven last year as a DD of 102 miles a day with no issues. now after a winter rest this is what i got now.

ALL grounds have been cleaned, and pod as well.

What would you check?

Thanks, Steve

it sounds like you need a voltage regulator,
if the charge voltage is over 14.4 then this will boil the battery
Charge voltage SB from 13.5 to 14.2

Again Mrmerlin gives good advice.

The battery can be held at 13.8 indefinitely without damage. Anything over 13.8 promotes boiling.

As Stan points out, 13.5 to 14.2 is typical.

Also, check your CE panel.

I had a different but similar issue with my '82. The torpedo fuse ends became oxidized over the winter and all sorts of crazy things were happening. The ends of the fuses looked ceramic coated. After cleaning everything returned to normal.

As is usual as MrMerlin points out, the regulator is probably the issue.
As Denny points out preventative maintenance of the CE Board is ALWAYS a good thing to do.

So i pulled the alt and i also see this what looks to be a resistor with ceramic around it? I did order a new voltage reg but where can i find one of these?

Thanks, Steve

Given the vintage of the car, you should strongly recommend changing to a different style of alternator.

Do a search on the board for this.
