Default 928 valve cover paint

I have an 87 928s4. while removing some tape from my valve covers, after painting the lettering, I lifted off some of the silver/gray paint. Does anybody know what paint color it is, where I can find a paint product? thanks

If you are not going to remove the for paint or powdercoat I would go the auto parts store and find a close match color in the touch up section. You will likely be the only one that ever notices. If it is a low mile museum piece then just take them off and have them powercoated. That is the best choice anyway since if some paint came off that easy the rest is not far behind.

Welcome klorix, you've happened upon one of the classic 928 cosmetic issues. Don't recall anyone ever finding a close match, perhaps because the paint changes as it ages. I sprayed mine with an ordinary Duplicolor wheel paint for a slight refreshment effect ...
