Hello, I recently got my 1980 928 running and wanted to get all the electronics working. My gauges are all messed up except for RPM and speedo. My temp gauge usually doesn't move and when it does it spikes right away, same with my fuel gauge. The oil pressure gauge is always spiked. Alternator seems to work but has low reading of around 12. My head lights seem to be somewhat backwards. When you turn the switch to put them in the up position they go down and then come on. Go to turn them off they go down and half way back up and stop. I was driving one day and this happened. I cleaned almost all of the grounds to my knowledge, pulled the circuit board and cleaned it up ( I noticed there was a male post on the board but no female end in the plug for one of the adapters on the board, I also saw two wires that had been cut and wrapped together in a ****ty fashion.) I pulled the pod and followed dwaynes advice and replaced the circuit foil on the back of the instrument cluster, (no luck) I also replaced the headlight switch( no luck) I have no idea what to do now and I am in need of help. Please help me.

 

Join so you can post pics. All have seperate signals from their respective switches so unless yo have multiple sensors going bad many of the gauge functions share a common ground.

I also had some wierd warning light behavior that seemed to be tied to a worn ignition switch.
