Default Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil 20W-50 High Zinc

Says so right there on the label, and I quote - "****-loads of zinc for your old world flat tappets."

Seriously.

Autozone. $5.99/qt

Yeah, but that is non-synthetic, isn't it? Valvoline VR1 20W-50 racing synthetic I think comes in black bottles.

Honestly, the non-synthetic is fine too (silver bottle). Brad Penn is a non-synthetic base stock and it's one of the best oils out there (so says a local engine builder who has tested many oils on his engine dyno).

Just don't use the: "Valvoline® Specialty Racing Oil ("Not Street Legal")" stuff. It doesn't have the detergents a street car needs. This is the kind of stuff designed to be changed every 500 miles or X number of laps or time running etc.....

The only reason I switched to the synthetic VR1 is I scored a few cases for free (long story) and once those run out my 928's will be on Bradd Penn.

Non-synthetic is fine.

Enough detergent.

Change a couple times a year.

Loads of zinc.

My cat is gutted, so no clogging worries.

Just down the street at Autozone and always in stock.

This is a great solution for me.

Hi,

My 83S is on Mobil 1 15W50, but my stock as ended, and since it is now discontinued, my next choice will be the Valvoline VR1 20W50.
From what I saw and read about all the available oils in my country, limited to 15W50 or 20W50, the VR1 is by far the one with a zinc content near of what is recommended to our cars.
But in Portugal the choice isn't very wide on those two grades, so it was easy to chose!

Regards
