I'm not seeing what's going on in that pic.

I know you brought this up before, but I can't see how the passenger door can open the driver door.
I've studied the WSM, etc... applied it....
Alls I can tell is driver door actuates the central lock, only.
If otherwise, I'd love to be proven wrong.

Jim, there are two rods in the shot with 90 degree bends in them. The one at the top extends and withdraws when the driver side lock is turned. At the moment, it slides in that channel it's in. I don't believe it's supposed to do that. I think the broken fastener secures the rod in place in the channel, and should push or pull the whole thing when the driver's side lock is turned.

You might be right about the passenger side not unlocking the driver side, although I think I remember it doing it. It's been a while. But as it is, the driver side doesn't unlock the passenger side, and that's the goal at the moment.

The link is design to pull, not push (when pushed, it slides in the slot).

Re. The latter, diagnose w/a Mityvac. Moorehouse CD have the info, in particular, the 78 TSM.

Email me it you need a copy, ir peruse my #579 thread (see sig below)

OK, that helps. At least I can tell what happens when it should be pulling.

So if it only goes in one direction, how does it lock? Mine unlocks (most of the time) but doesn't lock.

It's really hard to analyze, as it seems designed to not lock when the door is open, so I shouldn't even be able to see it working even when it's working properly.

Can anyone answer this question? I can see how the door would unlock when the link is pulled (although it doesn't all the time) but how would the door lock when it is pushed? Should there be a spring on it that pushes the link back when the rod is retracted?

Default Door Lock How To pin?

Anyone know whether this pin(black arrow) goes into the top(blue arrow) hole or the bottom (red arrow) hole?

fyi That is a clip on the inner door panel that runs atop the door window.
Closure is good.

Default door lock/stick back into the circular lock handle mechanism

I was about to give up but resolved this.
The diagram is missing the red arrow connection.
The grommet goes into the red/top hole first.
Then lower protrusion on the lock (#24) goes into the grommet as pictured.
The third step is the unnumber top piece(blue arrow) gets put in simultaneously with the the 2nd higher protrusion on the lock stick going into the hole(blue arrow).

please note not actual picture - only for illustrative purposes

Can anyone help with how to attach the plastic tab at the blue arrow hole in the plastic tab onto the ball on the lock mechanism.

I could not get the red arrow hole/end of the plastic tip out of the key hole far enough to attach the ball on the lock cylinder.

So I removed the plastic piece at both the red and blue ends.

Then I put the red hole/end onto the ball on the cylinder.

Then I reinserted the lock cylinder with plastic tab attached thru the key hole back into the door.

But now I need to attach the blue arrow hole on the plastic tab onto its position on the lock mechanism.

i've tried finessing it with tweezers, two screw drivers, a hook tool - Its very tricky to get to and press onto the ball on the lock mechanism.

Any advice much appreciated.

Please note the picture above is just for illustrative purposes, the entire lock mechanism and cylinder are in the door at this time.
