Compliments to Borland on this one.

Silicone Rubber Oil Pan Gasket Installed With Tabbed Lock Washers

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...k-washers.html

As part of the complete: re-seal of all the oil seals and new TB and flappy bearings with dual seals (thank you Roger), Porken tensioner and all new timing gear plus installation of the new oil baffle design by Greg Brown (Greg thanks for making this item available so soon)

I installed this type of oil pan gasket on the transplant engine that will go into the white 1988 "Sparky"

since the engine was out I could turn it over which made the install and in particular the very light torque requirement that much easier it also was easier to have the mating surface absolutely cleaned and dry before the gasket was put in place.

In addition I selected to go with the bolts versus the studs fasteners as I really wanted to copy Borland's procedures as much as possible.

I did add a layout chart as a guideline to indentify the location and order of each locking clip.

When doing this installation from under need a car it may be easier to work with the studs in the block in order to catch the alignment of all the through holes in the gasket whereby you'll have to raise the pan up to the engine.

BTW: I checked on what was the last post made by Borland and I saw it was on 9-1-2012 I miss reading some of his excellent posts made here on RL, anybody heard from or about him?

Default oil pan

87 928s4 aut. i just did the same thing on my engine oil pan. i noticed that most likely the bolts near the exhaust on the side would come more loose than others due to heat etc.

your lock clips are nice and fancy, what i did on this budget build was to get star lock washers and put them on.

* for assemblers, note that there are several bolts shorter than all the rest. these go in indented holes. if memory serves there are 5 shorter ones.
