No worries!

Methinks your choice of Pachelbel might emply blood and guts or thunder and lightning. Doe this imply that the installation of Porky is very difficult?

Since you have replaced the timing belt yourself, can we assume you have the workshop manuals?

If so, instructions for rebuilding the tensioner are in that same section of the WSM.

Rebuilding the tensioner is easy compared to replacing the timing belt.

C. No relation to Porky Pig.
D. Musical selection while install would be: Pachelbel of course.
But only use D flat below middle C! From Pachelbel's Canon, for example... actually, I forget which note it is, but I do use the tone, i.e. frequency measurement method, which as I am sure you know as a metrologist is what Gates et al seem to prefer these days. But the instruments they sell are a bit dear, so I just use a tone generator and/or guitar tuner, which works pretty well. (BTW, I work as a guide in the home of one of the greatest metrologists in US history, although Jefferson used the term "mensuration" back in the day. No rude jokes, please!)

Meh - not too hard. You have the skilz.

Pachelbel is about the most Teutonic composer from the era I could think of. I believe he trained one or both of the Bach's so maybe he knows something about composing.

I've got the same problem as we speak. As Bill notes, one thing to check is the connection between the tensioner and the alarm. I found that when I'd replaced the belt covers last time the wire that runs from the outside of the center belt cover was broken under the insulation, which led to a false belt tension warning. The cable can't be much more than 22 gauge wire and in my case it's been sitting about an inch in front of a 300HP engine for the past 30 years. On top of that, there's no stress relief on the wire.

If anyone knows where to buy the male button connector that runs through the center belt cover I'd appreciate a reference.

Scott.

SAY IT AINT SO!!!

you as well!
But..this was after i had set...then retensioned later...just needed a "tweek"..literally a half a turn and i never saw it again.

PKensioner has solved everything so far. Not many miles on it, but not easy ones either.

The strip of black tape on the cluster display helps as well...just kidding...just kidding!

BJ, Pachebel (Canon at least) is about as far from blood and guts as you can get. Doc seems to have had another reason, but Pachebel is very soothing. Very good to help you remain calm and concentrate as you read the WSM.

RE: Belt job: Search is your friend. Lots of stuff here if you just take the time; An owner named Kelly has a manual for 85/86 on ebay, but very useful for all cuz it has lots of pics.
