Did some checking - with my main wholesaler in the last 12 months they have sold 756 and received 36 warranty returns. Manufacture has changed to Meyle (German) and on the bag - made in the PR of China.

We need to come up with a better mouse trap.

Well since these don't seem to be a major issue for other domestic brands - are there ford/chevy parts we can adopt? The general configuration (vac to close) is the most common one - seems there should be multiple to chose from - need to match based on physical size, mount and hose connections. Then run the test mules - in 5 or 6 years we will have an idea on reliability...

And furthermore,

my shop's usual wholesaler (Worldpak) no longer has the 928 heater valves available. So the supply and quality are diminishing at the same time.

Unfortunatly 410073 was discontinued here in the States about three years ago. I still have a couple in the warehouse. It now supersedes to the same heater valve we are discussing. I will do a complete search this weekend for alternatives at all the main wholesalers.

If you remember there was a metal version 410073 used on the Audi cars 74671 but again NLA and supersedes to the heater valve we are discussing.

And the metal part was a volvo app, right? I may have one in my basement somewhere 'midst the other spares.

For leaks, in addition to actuators folks should mind the condition of the pipe from the head as well.

Sean I just checked the WorldPac stock and they have at least 100 in stock - your shop is probably trying to search using the 928 number. Tell them to use 000 830 57 84.

I am using a 12 v solenoid valve in place of the vacuum operated water valve. I take the 12v from the vacuum solenoid that operates the existing valve.

Under the specs pasted below, it gives a max fluid temp of 95 degrees.
--------------------------------------------

Voltage: 12V DC
Current: 250mA
Pressure: 0 - 0.5Mpa
Valve type: diaphragm (operated by Servo)
Operation mode: normally closed
Inlet and outlet: hose barbs for 1/2" (outer diameter) hose
Max fluid temperature: 95 ˚
Usage: water and low viscosity fluids
The 12V solenoid valve is brand new and unused. Please note it is not suitable for use with gravity fed systems
