Default To the crusher

These cars will likely go to the crusher - they are abandoned at the place of my late mechanic (John Raysich - one of the best in the biz, died suddenly a couple of months ago). His son, John Jr, is taking over the business (he worked for many years with his dad, and he knows what to do - in fact, his dad was pissed at him once, and for punishment, made Jr replace the upper control arms and other suspension stuff on my 86.5).

Anyway, these sharks are long neglegted, and John needs to get rid of them to sell the warehouse property where they sit. I have been looking at them for awhile, but yesterday, got the keys and went thru them pretty thoroughly. These are rotting parts cars at best. Unfortunately, since the shop doesn't own them, John has no title and can't sell them or give them away. It isn't worth hiring a lawyer to foreclose on them either (I wouldn't do it for free either). So, away they'll go, via salvor.

It may be possible that the title to any particular car could be obtained from the owner, but if you see anything you'd want, you'd best call John Jr sooner rather than later.

So, a few less sharks, thus incrementally driving up the value of the remaining ones in the tank. The red one is an 86.5; the white is an 85; the euro is an 82 5 speed with 15" phone dials on it; the gold is a flooded 82 Weissach (I believe) that was formerly owned by Steeler running back Rocky Blier; and the ruby red is an 84. Enjoy the pics:

They don't look dead, just depressed.
Hopefully someone will make them happy again.

Hey linderpat is there anyway that I can get the 86.5 as a whole?

I can likely do something on my end, and at worst being that car looks pretty much well kept I can use pretty much most of the entire car on a future purchase of 86.5 that I am staking out for (I can likley even buy a almost stepps from being scrapped 86.5 as a carrier)

You'd have to call John Jr and work it thru him. It is very rough:

also, keep in mind, John is not going to want to screw around too much with these cars - he is very busy trying to keep the continuity in running the shop, and keeping the business strong. John Sr was a larger than life Porsche guru, and Jr has much work to do. Jr really just wants to get them gone the cheapest easiest way possible (as would I under the same circumstances).

I would just ask him to use a car shipper to ship to me, only thing is having him being there to tell them what car to pick up (using my credit card). He wont need to take apart the car or anything but being there and handing the shipper the keys.

I dont have his number, is there anyway that you can pm me it?

Damn, i wish i was closer.. the last group of pics' brown trim pieces match mine perfectly. Is it just me, or is some of that beige carpeting in really nice shape?

Your close, you can likely ask for shipping from a truck likely in the 200-500 range(I used ebay as a test bed being there is one listing in PA not exact but close enough, they use gigamoves.com)

But ouch about 1000 shipping from PA to California (it is pretty much across the entire country)

I'll pm his number to you - but remember - John DOES NOT OWN THESE CARS, so he cannot sell them to you. And, I'm sure he is not going to spend any money on lawyers to get those cars in his name in satisfaction of the garage liens his shop has (the only way John could sell them to you would be if he executed on his garage liens and got title thru the courts). Under PA law, his only no cost option is to call the police, and have them arrange for a salvage company to come by and pick them up and take them away.
Having said that, John may give you the owner's name, so that you can contact the owner and see if he would sell it to you. John will be entitled to recover the labor and storgage costs his shop has in it before he releases the car from the lot, however. So when you add it all up, not worth the effort in my view.
