New Test Machine For Brakes, Shocks, and Alignment.

Burning Brakes
We had a tech session at our local dealer a while back and they had a pair of MAHA Diagnostic Lanes.
Really slick. A bit more sophisticated than the system in the video. It had pads that measured 4 wheel slip angle as you drove on, dyno rollers to measure brake effectiveness, a shock dyno, a check for tie rods and ball joints, a lift in the center for sprung and unsprung suspension inspection, axle weight side to side and front to rear, and even a headlight alignment station! The whole check took less than 5 minutes and the results were printed out on the spot.
Just dug out my printout and it's dated 29.03.2003 - so it's not all that "new."

Heh, thats one of the local listers' 928's.
He works in film (motorsport stuff mostly) and posted the video after having a play with the newly installed machine at a local workshop.

These machines are manufactured by my friend and fellow racer XXXX
and are installed in 300+ workshops across Australia. I can see why. Results are
surprisingly (to me) consistent, thanks to the accurate German (of course)
load-cell technology. Takes 2 minutes to get a photo-proofed readout of
individual wheel braking, brake balance, handbrake, shock condition, F+R wheel
alignment, corner weightings. Can't tell you castor or camber of course - just
drag. And drag means wear. A money-spinner for the industry, you'd think.
