As 245/45-16's are harder and harder to find, I would like to know if anybody's running 245/50-16's on there S4 right now.
The only choice beside this is to upgrade to 17".
I would love the Cup I or the CupII for my car.
That would be nice but 7.5" are very hard to find.
Alot more 7" are available but...

With the road condition we have around here, I would like to stay as long as I can with the 16".

 

Time to go with some 18s, grandpa.



Much greater and cheaper choices than 17s.

Don't believe those old wive's tales of bent 18" wheels - never happens.

 

If I would go with 18", I would like to get a set of Panamera 10 spoke wheel.
Or a set of Cup III but those are harder and more expensive to find. I think.
Greater choice with 18". But cheaper, hum, not sure.

 

I am faced with the same issue. I have D90's and getting close to the wear marks on the rears. I find myself starring at Boxster wheels. But 18"s are in my future.
Problem is, I like my D90s

 

hi Bertrand........I bought a set of correct sized 16" tyres from the local Porsche dealership.

They were for a customers car I was working on and believe it they were a good price

 

Just use the 245/50-16s. They work just fine and the speedometer and odometer difference is negligible. I ran them for several years until I got my 19s. I am going to put some all season tires on my 16" wheels and I'll put 245/50-16s on the back again so I can drive when it is cold/wet/slightly snowy out.

 

What brand are they Malcolm?
By the way, mine are still good but was wondering for the futur.

 

What size are your D90s? I might be interested if you want to get rid of them.

Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 is available in 245/45 16.

One of the best tires on the market PERIOD

And, you can order them though Costco....

I don't know about the "spam alert", but Bridgestone did make 245/45-16 RE-11's available again (I thought at least partly due to the Porsche community). Tirerack lists them as well - on "special" now for $187.

I have my original D90's as well which I'm hanging on for originality shake, but was thinking of sticking winter tires on them, which as I found out are NLA unfortunately.

It looks like the RE11 is the answer for a summer tire, but its disturbing that the fronts on Tirerack are on "closeout"...
Too bad that these sizes will eventually become obsolete completely.

 

They were Continentals.....I have a pic somewhere.

 

You can also run a 225x50 on the 8 inch rim......actually works BETTER in snow ! the tread width is only slightly less but has correct sidewall height. The 245x50 makes the car look a little odd from the side somewhat like a wanna be drag racer with bigs and littles.
