Use your cars or pay the price
If you have Hagerty Collector car insurance, then you get Hagerty's Classic Cars, quartly magazine.
In this quarter's issue, "Carini On Cars" Wayne states what we already know, that cars deteriorate faster if they're not driven regularly.
One of the great things about having Hagerty insurance on my collection is that Hagerty encourages it's insured to drive their cars, and there are no milage limits on the policy. It just can't be your primary transportation.
Check out Hagerty.com for the article.
I have no interest in who insures anyone's vehicles, just a FYI. Good read, and info.

True, true. I keep pushing my dad to drive his '06 C4. It just sits pretty in the garage. Beautiful Atlas Gray color too with sports exhaust.
I drove along side him from Church this weekend. Wonderful sound and amazing acceleration. She is gorgeous.
Honestly, these cars need to be drive and driven hard. That's what my mechanic and friend who is a mechanic says. Let them sit, they'll just rot and destroy themselves on the inside. All you have is a pretty shell and no power. Everything in that engine needs heat treatment.

Unfortunately for me, mine is a DD, so not an option. I can tell you that at 237k miles, it's the highest high miler I've ever had and the only time she complains is if she's been left off the road too long.

McKeel Hagerty, got involved and they cut me a check for the agreed value. He told me that the claims rep didn't understand the collector market. And that in the future Hagerty would be holding in house training, for it's claims reps. Hagerty was reimbursed by the other insurance company in the end.
I made out very well, and replaced my 87 with the 89 I have now. Had some money left over too.
I just recieved my policy renewal package yesterday. I have my cars, and bikes insured with Hagerty, and carry the Hagerty Plus roadside package. I get up to 150 miles of flatbed towing. With that and my preminum AAA membership, it'll get me just about anywhere I need for a repair.
As a side note: I met McKeel Hagerty, at last years SEMA show here in Vegas, and saw him again at Barrett Jackson. He's a collector, and knows the collector car insurance business. He's a stand up guy, and fun too. He's a hugh supporter of the hobby, and very involved on the legislative side to protect our interests.

It is nice that Hagerty has a magazine and all, but I went with Grundy because Hagerty repeatedly conveyed the message that my car was to be driven ONLY for certain pleasure trips and to enthusiast events. Most collector policies have these restrictions, but Hagerty seemed particularly uptight, to the point where I was wondering if I would have to have the car put on a flatbed to take it to somebody for body work or detailing. Grundy turned out to be cheaper for the same coverage.
I don't know how this is consistent with a message that you should drive your car. If you go out to dinner at a strip mall and stop at the grocery store after you eat, you shouldn't have to worry if you are covered. Hagerty made me wonder if I would be....

^^^ This is what has kept me from going this route. I work from home so in order to drive my cars much at all I have to use them for quick runs to the store or post office. There seems to be some grey area with respect to what type of driving is covered.

From the definitions section of my Grundy policy:
"Collector Vehicle" means a private passenger auto or motorcycle that:
1. Is maintained solely for private use in exhibitions, parades, club activities or other functions of public interest.
2. Is not used for regular driving to work, school, errands, shopping, general transportation, secondary or back-up transportation, business or commercial purposes, except for limited pleasure use.

It's way cheaper, same PL/PD coverage that are on our daily drivers, with agreed value. Plus there are 4 cars covered on my Hagerty policy, as compared to 2 cars on my policy thru Ameriprise/ Costco.
I believe because I have 10 vehicles insured with Hagerty, they have never given me any problems about vehicle use. When I was rear-ended they never asked why I was driving my Porsche. They don't want the cars to be daily drivers, where they sit in parking lots all day. You have to have a late model DD, a garage where the vehicles are stored, and provide pictures of them when you apply for coverage.
