As so many on this list have opined after being without 928's after having lived with one (or more) I have regrets since selling mine (91 auto and 88 5 speed) last year. I am now in the market for an auto and have found several nice S 4's and also a sweet low mileage 86 S3. I had not previously considered an S3 but now I am tempted. I don't have the VIN so am not aware if it is an 86.5. My preferences in 928's lie in the long distance, high speed, luxurious GT aspects of the design. So for those who have owned both or those who haven't but have an opinion anyway, how will an '86 S3 compare with an '89 S4? thanks in advance.

 

Rod, they are two different vehicles. It really feels like they are not the same car from the way they feel and drive. One feels more light and nimble and the other feels heavier and more sure footed.

In my personal want list is:

78 5-speed (already have a 78 auto)
85-86 5-speed
88 Auto SC (bomb of all cars period )
92-93GTS (yes I know 92 is ROW so what)
