My dear wife picked me up a battery powered soldering iron for Christmas. It's just an inexpensive Radio Shack brand but it is handy as a button on a shirt. Equivalent of 15 watts but heats to +1050F max and heats up QUICK. Great for soldering on 12VDC wiring from 14AWG and down and is low powered for delicate work. Tip is very fine and replaceable. Plus has a handy LED light for my old eyes. I have used it for a couple of odd 928 jobs and I'm to the point I won't plug one of my corded irons in unless I need serious wattage.

You DO have a dear wife. That is VERY cool. Even I might have great difficulty burning up a instument panel circuit foil with that!

I use one with gas (for cigarette lighters) quick and variable in heat. But does not have an LED
