1989 928 S4 engine wont start from second time
#31
Good day gentelmen,
to auzivision, the spark plugs cables order are right.Double checked and compared them with the other 928 i have.
To docmirror, What fuel pressure i should see in the fuel rail? but for the information, the in tank fuel pump replaced with new plus the external one and fuel filter too.So i am not worried about the fuel pressure. And also i replaced the three pressure regulators with new ones.
Could be fuel metering system. That i do not know if it is working fine or not?
To SMTCapeCod,
When we removed the heads, i replaced all vaccum hoses but maybe i need to check again .Maybe we have some hoses not connected.
I will re-checking wire harness for the throttle position sensor and the output of the sensor itself.
Thanks guys.

Test the actual pressure on the fuel rail. Roger at 928sRUS will sell you a nice little gauge kit that fits on the end of the rail at modest cost. Since you've worked on the fuel system significantly, no offense intended, but mistakes may have been made, or you may have gotten a defective part.
After you KNOW your fuel pressure is about 45-60PSI (I think) you will need to investigate all the parts of the fuel injection system that determines injector pulse width. This is long and complicated. There is a troubleshooting chart in the workshop manual if you have that.

to docmirror,
Well this is my plan.I am going to buy from Roger the fuel pressure guage.Regarding the fuel injectors. We removed them and tested them on the fuel test skid and they are okay.
Thanks

Right Engine Bank No electric
Good day,
We started the engine but it is running on left bank. The right bank has no electric supply to spark plugs.
Any ideas why? What possible things i need to check?
Thanks

How about making sure the coil wire is connected. Ask me how I know......

Good day,
To 928porschepatrick.You said Maybe one of the ignition control modules is faulty.Where is that located?
To John Speake, I changed both coils with new ones. What you mean by king leads? i changed also all spark plugs and coils wire with new ones.
To Schocki, both coils new.But why not.let me swap them and see what happens.
To jeff spahn, tell me how

Your ignition control modules are under the flat plastic cap near the nose of the car. They are between the front bumper area and the radiator. On the drivers side (LHD). Remove the flat plastic cap and you'll see two thin electronic boards. Each one controls the ignition for 1/2 the engine. Roger sells the Hueco and the Bosch ones. When one of mine failed I put in the Hueco (chinese) one. Been running fine for 4 years with this brand. Failure was sudden with no indication.

Okay we manage to have the electrical after we changed the right ignition module. Now we have another problem. We found injectors # 2 ,5 and 8 are not working.Electric is not reaching them.Is this because of ECU?
Thanks

#3 will also be dead. TheGreen LED on the igntion protection relay would be lit after a delay of 20 secs after the engine started.
As Schocki says, jump the protection relay, joins pins 87, A1 & A2 together. and also link AL to 15. Be VERY careful not to misread A1 and AL !!
