Transaxle Swap (G28/03 for G28/11)

I'm glad you brought up the selector. (aka shifter handle) In the past, I noticed that the later "short shifter" used the same spacing of tubes as the early shifter. These are the tubes that form "axles" for the ends of the shifter rods. I've just finished cutting down the shifter rod on my '80 thus creating a "short shifter" for an '85 transmission. This revelation is pleasing.
Thanks again.

Oddly enough... The G28/11 came with two different mounts on it. I've looked through the PET and can't figure this out. A mount from an '78? Looks about the same but the mounting hole is square in the middle of the pad so maybe 1/2" further in towards the tranny. I didn't spot it until trying to bolt it down (Of course) and had to lower the cradle to get at the bolts. Got them both off and realized that only the one on the right side needed to be replaced. Ack.

'78 MY G28/03 use large mount on left side because battery box is mounted into gearbox. Rear axle cross member is also different depending on what mounts are used. So all G28/03 setups are not equal. Mounts need to be selected based on what cross member version is used.

Yep. And that's the odd part: the later transmission had the wrong mount on the right side and it had the hole closer to the transmission. I'm suspecting it wasn't a 928 part at all. Did Porsche use similar parts on 911s? Reminds me of getting a 911 shift coupler that was visually the same but would never fit.

To kind of reverse engineer this thread for my understanding...to put a g28/11 into a g28/03 1979 car you would need:
The TT and shifting links/parts from the G28 car
The cross member from a G28/05 thru G28/11 car
Correct? anything else?
