best dash covering / color options for glare
I am at the point of getting my spare dash covered.
My existing dash has the tan colored leather falling apart so I have had a dash carpet over it for the last 2 years and have not noticed much glare due to the rough texture.
I pulled the pad off today and laid a piece of the proposed cork colored vinyl across the dash and noticed allot of glare even on this semi cloudy day.
Not sure how many options I have if I want the interior to flow from a color scheme perspective.
Any observations on cork colored dash glare or suggestions as to other covering options appreciated!

An Alcantara finish is very good for this.
On my Lotus Espirit I had the upper section of dash and pod recovered with Alcantara as that car really suffered from reflections, glare etc due to the very shallow windscreen angle.

On the other hand - darker materials have less glare even in stock finishes - could you come up with a 2 tone interior with a darker pod - if you didn't want to go darker with the whole dash...
I do think a darker pod sometimes looks OK, alternatively a tastefully chosen darker dash/pod/console/ door armrests could look very good and well matched in any color scheme - however - lots of work/expense
Matt material finishes like Alcantara are certainly better (but tougher to keep dust free also)

Thanks for the input.
Color scheme is currently matching dash, console, door, headliner and quater panels but the Pod is Black. I had planned on covering with cork vinyl to match the dash but think that would really create glare problems so will likely leave it black.
I have seen a post here somewhere where the dash was Alcantara on the top surface but the face of the dash where it met the console and glove box was leather.

Robert Budd did mine, works as I expected, no glare, cleans up easily and when treating the leather there is no mess on the glass

I have the same problem... original WHITE leather on everything, very glary in sunlight. I tried a home made cover in 'marine' carpet - had it fitted very nicely everywhere, seemed to work well, until I had the interior refurbed and found some mould on the leather. The cover was loosely fitted , not pulled down tight, so I thought it would breathe enough, but obvioulsy not. Now I just put up with glare, keep it out of sunlight as much as possible, and feed the leather regularly.

I bought a dash cover from the "Dash Man" against by will as I think dash covers are cheesy. I glued it down with spray adhesive to get a tight fit. The result is the stock leather dash produces a glare and the fabric dash pad eliminates this.
I recently purchased a donor dash on flea bay. Cover with leather, back to the glare?
There is a substitute material for Alcantara called "Street Suede" I found it at Keystone. They supply leather for cars. It's about $22 per yard

Always wondered ... if you cover the flat area around the defroster vents with something black/matte/etc, and the rest of the dash in what you want, how much reflection do you get?
The band of material in this db9 that runs along the glass made me think about it ... many times, they use a contrasting dark-color pod in these cars.

If you look at the dash on a 935 factory race car you will see that the strip that runs across the vent area as you mention is made of a matte "alcantara" like material. Porsche doesn't do this just for fashion. It runs about 5" in from the windshield

Flock it. I know they're UK based, but always wanted a dash done in this stuff.
