A second to the "Personal Inspection" comment. I think not intentional but the shadows in the pics hide features of the body work design and execution that will look different and not good in person. The interior =OMG!! Also negotiations will be emotional for the seller. Not good for him to see that no one else loves his work as much as he does. Or it's all a bluff and he will happily accept the $3,500. If you can afford the engine it needs to turn the tires those flares require, it might look right; it will still be an expensive proposition. Be gentle.

As long as the body work isn't a horrible cob job, I kinda like it.

What are those seats? Did he pull those from a 914?
I agree that I've also seen worse, but one has to wonder what else is wrong mechanically. Its always suspect when you find parts purchased from Sears & Roebuck under the hood [eg, the dryer hose].
