Great intro story, and what appears to be a solid example of a desirable shark. Welcome.

PS you DO know that more pics are a requirement...right?

Cheers,

Welcome to the club!

First off on the TB/WP (timing belt/waterpump), I would recommend that you inspect the belt and consider converting to a porkensioner for peace of mind regardless of when it was done.
Also, your car has a small belt in the distributor housing. Check the records and if this belt has not been replaced, do so immediately!

As to the lock, most lubes will end up picking up dirt and wearing the internal mechanism. I would only spray tri-flow lube in there. http://www.triflowlubricants.com/Tri...Lubricant.html This recommendation comes from the locksmith who works on these cars locking systems in the area. I have used it for years with good success.
Removal of the lock itself is pretty easy though should you decide to remove and fully clean.

That's a great color and the condition looks terrific. Best turn signal light install I have seen in front, but what is going on in back, a shadow, a gap? Would like to see many more pics inside and out and more detail on the background if possible. Color name may be on the door jamb sticker.

Thanks again for all the welcomes. It's nice, but not totally unexpected to see a few other owners in the area.

To answer a few questions that have arisen:
Dizzy belt was replaced same time as TB/WP. MAF too. I should be good there, at least for a while.

Headlights are H4 still.

Color is confirmed "Moss Green metallic." Sticker inside driver door says so (well it says something like "moosgruin"). It's hard to tell in the pics because it's outside, heavy overcast, and snow cover. The light just stunk. It's also dirty. PO kept it garaged, but not covered.
Federalization was done in 96, in New Jersey, apparently. There's a sticker that has the info, it includes the tire pressure and load data. The name of the importer is on there, but I couldn't read it. I will probably have to take a "pencil shading" like they do on old gravestones to read it. Or get it into decent outside sunlight.
No history before that, and none between that and PO's purchase in 09. Carfax from when PO purchased just shows a new title issued and an inspection in Jersey in 97.

PO did a pretty impressive amount of catchup when he first got it. Dealer reciepts for TB/WP, MAF, Dizzy belt, and a bunch of other stuff. Good sized chunk of change.

TV - Please clarify comment "what is going on in back, a shadow, a gap?" If you mean the right rear marker, it's damaged. The dent is visible right by the fuel filler door.

And you guys are very observant. The left front wheel IS different.

Here's a few more pics. Engine and interior. This is going to have to keep you guys satisfied for a while, I really don't have much more. And my limit is getting close. I had to get the two here to satisfy the WI DMV. They've changed the rules on collector plates since I got my 944. Now I have to go through an approval process, and they want pics of all 4 sides, engine and interior (interior must include a full view of the dash). Collector plates are "non-renewing," which means no annual fee. They have tightened the application process to prevent abuse.

That's a keeper. You got plenty of git up and go with that motor and trans. Would be interesting to know if it has LSD. If you don't have a option tag, you can jack the two rear wheels up, put it in neutral and turn one wheel forward. If the other goes forward, you have LSD. If the other wheel goes back or stays still it's an open diff.

If you're gonna go fast often may want to consider S4 brakes. The chassis is kinda heavy for the HP you have and the S4 brakes are a good safety plan.
