The headlight switch has nothing at all to do with turn signals - and cannot be a cause of failures there. It is however a possible cause for some failures of the parking light system - as you described you have - I think this is unrelated to the turn signal issue - but worth pursuing.

Your turn signal symptoms are NOT like the OP. Yours is far simpler - you get faster flashing because your rear turn signals have a connection problem - you need to focus on that single thing. Faster flashing - as in most contemporary vehicles - indicates the current loading from the bulbs is too low - e.g. typically one has burned out.

Here its a connection issue if you've swapped bulbs & cleaned the bulb holder already.

Rear left turn signal exits the CE panel @ T15 and that is internally connected to the bottom of Fuse 35 - check for flashing voltages there first. There should be no intermediate connections, until you get to the plug for the light cluster...

Replacing fuses is not enough - you have to test them, if needed replace them, then test them again - OR better yet just test that the voltage to the circuit is actually there when expected to be...

Alan,

Thanks, I did test the new fuses before replacing. However I did not test for voltage in actual CE Panel so will do that this afternoon. I will also check physical wiring, I appreciate the assistance!

Are you sure your bulbs are correct? That turned out to be the issue on my car even though I was sure I had the right ones, swapped them from side-to-side, etc.

No - you miss my point... take the fuse out - test it - if its bad: replace it - operate the equipment the fuse controls - take the fuse out - test it again... (so test it AFTER replacing) or better yet just test for voltage downstream of the fuse during operation.

For your parking light problem - it seems your left & right marker light circuits aren't separated. The light switch is the only place they should connect together - but only when it is in marker position or beyond.

Remove fuses #40 & #41 (for an '87) and test for continuity between the top connections of these two.. They should conduct only with the light switch in marker on & headlamps on positions.

If this seems right try the same with the lights off & turn signal in L & R positions - should not conduct.

Try markers on and only one of fuses #40 & #41 installed - do all lights operate OR only the correct side?

*UPDATE*

Sorry for confusion, I did test the fuses before and after installation and trying turn signals.

Also put a meter at the bulb holder and no power. In looking much closer at fuse location #35 and the new fuse, it didn't appear that the bottom blade was making contact as there were no visible marks on fuse after inserting and removing 3 times. A small drop of solder on the blade, inserted and voila, drivers side turn signal works along with flashers, gauges etc.

I still haven't solved the running lights issue but after removing bottom of ce panel door it does appear someone has put wired several connectors to various wires. Some are not connected to anything and others run under carpet to somewhere.

All in all very happy as all lights, signals, gauges now work so Texas here I come!

Appreciate all the help and guidance as it sent me to look at things much closer.
