Originally, he didn't have pics up so I will post what he sent me.
If it weren't for the spoilers added, I would be getting it.

That's cool! Reminds me of the '79 Euro I owned back in 1986. If it was in California I'd be tempted...

I'm not crazy about the cosmetic updates, but it looks like the engine might be a Euro S.

Looks like it didn't go through the full checklist on federalization. The speedo is still the original and in kilometers. I wonder if it only got the side markers slapped on it and whisked through. Pretty decent example.

Shift lever looks about 8" too short ;-)

Looks like a 4.5 engine to me - the runners don't look fat enough or have the extra kink like the S model from memory (I haven't bothered to go find a 4.7 "euro" picture).

Pascha seats look to be in excellent condition - very unusual!

Hilton,
Some of the plumbing in the engine bay looks 'later', like the aux air, oil breather, and lack of cold start inj.

Sure would be a neat combo if it's a 78 with early EuroS motor!

Wur and the intake spider legs are non S, what looks S that I am missing.

S4 wheels, S spoiler and rear bumper, so its a repaint.

With these posts about possible S motors, what are you referring to? Obviously not a LH twin dizzy motor. But what distinguishes it or not as a 300 HP Euro motor pre '84?

I get WUR orientation wrong a lot, one is front to back, other is about 45 degree angle.

First I look at at the spider legs, one of the intakes should have the casting number visible on one side for an S. The rest are usually details not reveal in picts like motor ID.

I think I was assuming that only the S motors had the WUR oriented straight, but perhaps the 80-82 4.5 CIS also shared this orientation (I was too lazy to research). My intention was mainly to point out that it does not look like a '78 engine. Jim listed some of these visual cues: AC air solenoid, WUR orientation, breather plumbing, venturi tube on brake booster vacuum line.

Its definitelly not '78-79 engine. Oil fillup points to wrong direction. Hose connected to it should go to drivers side. This is more like how it should look.

In the pics in the OP of the car for sale, the hose connected to the oil fill point looks more like the setup of the 4.7 in my 83 S.

WOW this was my car. Sadly not in the condition I sold it in I flew to Germany in 1984 to go used car shopping (the dollar was really strong) I did the entire importation process myself. I owned it for about 24 years and took exceptional care of it. I did not feel good about selling it because the new buyer did not have a garage and I knew its condtion would suffer. To answer some questions the car had a 1980 ROW engine and the car was originally petrol blue. That is how I bought it. I went to the Porsche factory with the car, went to the parts dept. and bought all the S spoilers down to the last bracket nut & bolt for $600 (front and rear) Great memories with this car. I would buy another in a heart beat if I came across a really nice 80-84 euro S
