Default CV joint?

Hi all,

It has been great reading all your accomplishments with your Sharks.

A question,

When i turn the steering wheel and move the car in reverse, there is a knocking from the front left wheel. The car also tends to pull left when driving along, ever so slightly, but just enough to be noticeable.

Do you think this is a CV problem, and wheel alignment?

Cheers.

wheel bearing possibly. CV's are in the rear so i doubt that.

You have the rare AWD 928? Cool.

Check for things rubbing, like ABS harness/wires or brake lines.

Could be that the wheel alignment nut's are loose on the front left and is moving. Or a brake pad. Grab the top of the wheel and pull it and push it to see if it moves.

There I fixed it.

Lonnie,
Glad to see you've got a tarp over the scene of the "accident".
You have "shoes' in one of your cars? really? and it has a Porsche logo on it?

My bet is on the wheel bearing......or the brake lines swelling.......or....

I almost gave in on that one. The 928 does have brake shoes. You tell me where they are.
I was just thinking the "pad" is dragging causing it to pull to the left but without pictures...

Fine, but, we were talking about the fronts.....I didn't account for a sudden transition to the E-Brake set up....

When you have suspension stuff loose enough to make noise, don't drive until it s sorted out.

This is a treat I'd like to keep reviewing.

I get the same knocking from my left wheel area in reverse. I have check everything and all the alignment nuts are tight, the sway bar and A arm bolts all are tight too. When the car is raised, I pulled on the wheels and the bearings seem solid... You guys think it could be a brake pad shifting around? That seems a bit unrealistic since the knocking comes as I press the brakes to stop and they are gripping the disc pretty hard at this point. Is there a chance the A arm bushings are worn and the assembly is popping or shifting?

What you think I have friends? I have replaced the transmission more than once all by myself.
