Default Sunroof rattle

As the title says, and damn annoying. Only happens when sunroof is completely closed and going over bumps. It does not appear to be the inside liner- I can push that up with my fingers and it makes no difference. I took the back cover for the motor apart and see nothing there that would warrant such an offensive noise.

Surely others must have had this problem- did a search but only saw some 996 issues. I don't know those cars so have no idea if they share the 928 sunroof design.

Thanks!

My 87 suffers from that, too.

This looks quite helpful Ken- thanks. I will pull the inner panel off so I can then see what is rattling.

I followed the inspection and adjustment instructions at
http://www.kondratyev.com/porsche/te...or/sunroof.htm. BIG help! After replacing all the plastic components, both front/side and rear seals, and both guide shoes, cleaning the tracks, cables and transmission, and lots of new lubrication, my sunroof finally moves - mostly.

My problem is that the motor doesn't seem to have enough power. With the interior trim panel off, it was closing completely, but didn't seem to have enough power to push the guide shoes "ears" completely up through the slots in the rails to the point where the rear was vertically aligned with the roofline. With the interior trim on, it only closes to within about 1/4", then doesn't have enough juice to finish the job.

Does the motor lose power over time? I.e., will a new or refurbished unit have more power to do the job completely?
